Finally seeing Thanos (and the Infinity Gauntlet) in action
This is our first look at Thanos actually doing something. Guys, he’s doing something! He’s walking! He’s punching Iron Man! No more is he a giant Sith-like projection or sitting on his floating asteroid throne.
No, this is our first good look at the Mad Titan coming into action. He comes through a portal, smirking and looking quite like Josh Brolin. That punch to Iron Man looks like it hurts, too.
We already know how much of a villain issue Marvel has. And the fact that Thanos hasn’t really done anything yet in any of his appearances (post-credits easter egg or otherwise) doesn’t instill a lot of confidence.
So it is a bit of a relief to see him at least doling out some paint to the Avengers and making good on his hunt for Infinity Stones. Even if a trailer can spin anything into something good.
Plus, one of the more goosebump-inducing moments of the trailer is when that second Infinity Stone snaps itself into place in the Gauntlet. Two down, three to go. And one of them is nicely on Vision’s forehead! Now that we know the Gauntlet in Odin’s vault really was a fake, this one just seems to hold more power.
