The Guardians of the Galaxy reveal

We know they’re coming in Infinity War. Everyone’s already confirmed that they would show up at some point. It’s a cosmic battle — why wouldn’t the most cosmic of characters show up?

But the way the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive in this trailer is just so… so them.

Because they are literally an ending stinger to the trailer itself. They crowd around in a small space in Thor’s ship (or is it Thor in their ship?!). There’s even an awkward-yet-friendly waive from Mantis. Groot also still looks to be very much Teenage Groot from one of the many post-credits stingers from Vol. 2.

And Thor has no idea who they are. None of the Avengers do. Heck, most of the audience didn’t know them when their first movie premiered! The last time any of these characters were on Earth was Peter Quill when he was just a kid.

It’s easy enough to assume that it’s Thanos bringing them back to Earth. While Nebula is noticeably absent from the group shot (she might end up threatening Thor rather than bringing a peace offering), Gamora is also a daughter of Thanos.

And if Earth is in danger, you know Peter is going to protect it.
