The latest teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi keeps trying to sell something, but also shows that there will be plenty of battles in the new film.
Honestly, Star Wars: The Force Awakens probably could have used more space battles. Sure, there were some times where X-Wings arrived and did some fancy flying in atmosphere, but the most iconic scenes of that movie focused more on individual battles — Rey and Kylo Ren’s duel, Kylo Ren battling his own impulses before killing Han Solo, and more. And while we’re sure Star Wars: The Last Jedi will keep that going as well, it’d be nice to head back out to space…
Fortunately, plenty of teasers have already delivered on that, but as Star Wars News Net points out, there’s a fresh look at the First Order sending out TIE Fighters in space, rather than on Crait as we’ve seen already. (Of course, the Crait shot, with both AT-ATs and TIEs, is also present in this teaser, because hey, when you have a cool shot like that, you use it as much as possible.)
What intrigues us is that this teaser also makes sure to re-emphasize the possibility of Kylo Ren and Rey banding together. That’s nothing new, but it is interesting that it keeps getting play as we get closer to the movie releasing — as SWNN points out, it’s getting closer and closer.
This music also seems perhaps the most epic of all — there’s no easing in as with previous teasers — and it comes with an actual movie announcer voice! That’s been pretty uncommon during this last push of teasers.
Next: Daisy Ridley doesn't really have a Star Wars escape route
This probably isn’t the new thing promised by ABC to air during tonight’s Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration — but we don’t expect a new full trailer, either, not necessarily. Whatever it is, we’ll be breaking it down, because every little bit counts when we’re this close to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
