Wednesday Wag: Meghan Markle had to leave one of her dogs behind

Meghan Markle has officially moved to Britain in preparation for her royal wedding to Prince Harry. But someone’s missing: Her dog Bogart.

While the world has been celebrating Prince Harry and Meghan Markel’s royal engagement, somebody has been noticeably missing from this fairytale moment. For some reason, one of Markle’s rescue dogs, Bogart, has been left back in North America.

According to Page Six, Markle brought her beagle Guy with her when she moved to Britain, but her Labrador-Shepherd mix Bogart was permanently left with friends in North America. There’s been no word why, though, this doggie isn’t getting the royal treatment.

“I can’t speculate,” a palace official said when asked why Bogart was left behind rather than taken to Kensington Palace. “Miss Markle is very fond of her dogs, and any decision about moving a dog over the ocean will have lots of complexity to it.”

It’s incredibly sad to think about poor Bogart being left behind while Markle and Guy set off to start their new royal lives. He must be so confused.

But Markle could have left her dog behind with friends for any number of reasons including strict regulations, her dog being too old to travel, or something else. It must have been an incredibly difficult decision, and it’s hard to believe that she would simply abandon Bogart.

And luckily, Markle won’t be short on furry friends in Britain. She gets along royally with the Queen’s famous beloved Corgis.

“The corgis took to her straight away. I’ve spent the last 33 years being barked at — this one walks in, absolutely nothing,” Prince Harry said in an interview on their engagement.

“They were laying on my feet during tea!” Markle added.

“Just wagging tails – and I was just like, ‘argh,’” Prince Harry explained.

In the same interview, Markle did reveal that one of her dogs was staying with close friends while her other one was in Britain with her.

Hopefully Bogart is adjusting to his new life just as well as Markle.
