What was America doing during the reign of Voldemort? Was it like World War II and we just waited until it directly affected us and it never did?
Voldemort reigned down upon the wizarding world for quite some time but it seems like everyone who fought him was from Great Britain. So what was everyone else doing during this time? Were they just hanging out, pretending like a Dark Lord wasn’t trying to kill off any wizard who wasn’t pureblood?
I know that in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we get a glimpse of what it was like in America during the rise of Grindelwald but what does that have to do with what happened with Voldemort? So my theory is that it was a lot like World War II.
America has a track record of not becoming involved in something internationally unless it directly involves us. So why wouldn’t wizards be the same way? If American wizards saw what was happening in the United Kingdom, don’t you think they’d just sit back and wait until it was at their doorstep?
I think that they’d put it off as much as possible. Especially since America had their own problems at that time. We’re a country of freedom and openness but we don’t particularly like helping if it doesn’t benefit us or endanger us. Or if we do, we make it a disaster.
So maybe everyone saw what happened with World War II and just thought we’d be better off if we didn’t join in at all. Either way, it was cowardice. We should have helped the wizarding world out and stopped Voldemort.

Instead, we wanted until a baby did it and then we waited again until that baby grew up and then killed Voldemort all together.
