Taylor Swift may have just released her new album, Reputation, earlier this month but already, her new songs have caught the attention of many and landed her on the list of the best albums of the year.

Just two weeks after Reputation became available to Swift’s many fans, Rolling Stone magazine listed the singer among the likes of Lorde, Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Kesha, and Harry Styles, all of whom were included on their list of the 50 Best Albums of 2017.

Lorde ranked higher than her longtime friend, Taylor Swift

As a report by WJBD Radio revealed on November 27, Lorde’s album, Melodrama, which was released in June of this year and was the magazine’s highest-ranking pop album on the list. As for the highest ranked album in general, that nod went to Kendrick Lamar, who was featured on Swift’s 2014 album, 1989, after collaborating on “Bad Blood.”

“Its greatest achievement was making 21st century pop feel as genuinely intimate as it did huge,” the magazine said of Lorde’s album.

Who else made the cut?

Kesha landed at the magazine’s fourth spot with her comeback album, Rainbow, and Swift’s Reputation landed in the seventh spot. Swift’s friend and fellow musician, Sam Smith, also found himself in the top 10.

As fans may recall, Smith was recently accused of dissing Swift after he allegedly liked a tweet dissing her music. However, shortly after the rumors began swirling, Swift suggested that either the reports were erroneous or that he had mistakenly liked the post.
