Star Wars: A track-by-track love letter to Christmas in the Stars

“A Christmas Sighting (‘Twas the Night Before Christmas)”

Technically speaking, this isn’t a song, though there is musical accompaniment. Instead, C-3PO effectively recites a Star Wars version of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Also, R2-D2 calls Threepio out on his nonsense without ever saying a word. Multiple times. Yes, Artoo might have a heart, but that does not mean he’s about to excuse Threepio for trying to make himself seem more important. (Although it does seem that Threepio has seen S. Claus, who is Santa, who exists in the Star Wars universe … at least this tiny, probably non-canon corner of the Star Wars universe. Just in case you forgot.)

There are a couple of great exchanges in here, though, including the aforementioned Threepio-Artoo conversations, and Threepio’s line about “a bowlful of jelly”. Again, jelly? In the world of Star Wars? Sure, why not. Ditto with sugarplums.

Anyway, perhaps my favorite comes from two of the droids who are trying to figure out why they don’t see S. Claus, solely because of the delivery of these two voice actors whose voices have since been droid-ified.

“Maybe he’s shy.”

“Maybe he doesn’t exist!”

Harsh, droid #2. Harsh. Mellow out a little, huh?

Of course, Threepio’s story, which apparently takes place the year prior, has him working in the toy shop once again, so … yeah, try not to think about when Threepio would have time, because this has to take place after at least A New Hope since we know that Chewbacca, Han, Leia, and Luke all know Threepio and Artoo …

Don’t think about it too hard, basically.
