“What Can You Get a Wookie for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb)”

This song seems to have been written before the standard spelling of Wookiee with two e‘s became a thing. That, or the people who put this CD together just didn’t know. Whatever. It’s pronounced the same either way, so there you go.

However, this song, in all its goofiness, has a ridiculous amount of charm, not in the least because it allows you to imagine Chewbacca wearing such things as a hat, galoshes, or a tie clip … and possibly using shaving foam.

It also asks you to imagine how you possibly could put a ribbon on “goodwill to men” or “love and understanding,” but it’s all a metaphor anyway. It does keep the idea of love being important running through the album, and it’s kind of an adorable idea. Even though the droids don’t speak Shyriiwook, they want to make sure Chewbacca feels included in their holiday celebrations.

As previously promised, this is one of the times when the album acknowledges the existence of other characters by listing off gifts for Han Solo (earmuffs), Princess Leia (perfume, which is slightly stereotypical, but hey, she deserves to feel nice, too) and Luke Skywalker (a scarf, helpful for Hoth and something slick for an ace pilot, even a space pilot).

Keep this question in mind — there is an actual answer later on in the CD.
