25 of the best family feuds on TV

Claire Dunphy and Mitchell Pritchett — Modern Family
File this “feud” under the most harmless of all on the list. Fostered by a mildly withholding father and whack-a-doodle mother, Claire and Mitchell are more the product of toxic parenting than anything else. The feud between these two is mostly a fierce competition that drives them to one-up each other, outperform the other, and just generally do better than the other.
Although they love each other very much, they both secretly enjoy getting over on the other one. Whether it’s a Halloween prank or embarrassing the sibling with a story from their childhood, Claire and Mitchell delight in the other’s discomfort.
As the older sibling, Claire is usually the aggressor in most of the face-offs. They have a lot of left-over dynamics from childhood. Claire is hyper-competitive and will stop at nothing to win, even if it is at Mitchell’s expense. Claire views herself as her father’s favorite, and Mitchell is super insecure about this relationship with him.
In a family with so many different personalities, the resulting family dynamics is chaotic, although mostly loving and kind. Even though Claire and Mitchell participate in this hotly competitive relationship, they definitely care about each other. The feud between the two is mostly just good fun, and every time Claire and Mitchel square off, we get a little more insight into what made them the kind of adult they are today.
