NYC has a rule that a dog can’t go on the subway unless it fits in a bag. But some New Yorkers are finding creative tricks to work around it.
New York City has this rule that dogs can’t ride the subway unless they fit in a bag. Now, that’s not a problem if you’ve got a small dog you can carry around. But it obviously poses more of a challenge if you have a bigger dog. New Yorkers are nothing if not creative, though, and will go to extreme lengths to bring their pups along for the ride.
People create makeshift bags for their dogs, cut holes in the bottoms so their dogs can walk, put them in suitcases and IKEA bags, and more just to get their furry friends on the train. It’s pretty impressive, really.
Maxine, or Mad Max, the fluffy Corgi, for example, rides around in a backpack on her dad’s back for their daily commute to work each morning. And she loves it.
The adorable fluff ball always has a smile on her face as she and her dad head into the train together. And she’s constantly turning heads wherever she goes. People just can’t get over seeing a dog just chilling in a backpack. And who can blame them? It’s absolutely adorable and hilarious. And Max just soaks up all that attention.
“Everybody has fun with her. She kind of has a mind of her own when she’s back there. I just kind of mind my own business,” Max’s owner told The Dodo.
“It’s usually pretty cramped in there,” he added of taking the subway with his pup. “It’s funny to see her brighten people’s day.”
