Justice League’s top 7 hilarious and heartfelt moments
Aquaman’s accidental TMI
Arthur isn’t the most serious member of the Justice League, but when you’re on the same team as Batman that qualification means basically nothing. Aquaman’s main thing seems to be lingering in the background smirking in a vaguely threatening manner, or commenting on how weird it is that Bruce dresses up as a bat (which, glad someone said it).
He spends most of his screen time smoldering, smirking, or a combination of the two. He has an eyebrow scar, for Poseidon’s sake. He’s almost comically cool (refer to slide #1). Which was what made it so satisfying when that cool-guy façade was briefly yet irreparably shattered.
Just before the start of the big battle, Aquaman starts making some macho speech about how it would be great to die a valiant death — which quickly devolves into a weird, uncomfortable ramble about how they’re totally unprepared, Diana is deeply attractive (same, bro), and he doesn’t actually want to die.
The audience reaction in my theater was perfect — the confused and uncomfortable silence perfectly mirrored the rest of the League’s responses, until at last Arthur’s eyes widen, and he pulls the glowing Lasso of Truth out from where he was sitting on it. Raucous laughter at his expense ensues.
Not to mention that Diana’s little smirk as Arthur awkwardly gives her Lasso back. Priceless.
