20 nonbinary creators you need to keep an eye out for
Ashanti Fortson
Ashanti Fortson is a nonbinary cartoonist and illustrator whose brightly colored work is inspired by their deep love for fantastical places like outer space and kind stories.
Their queer space fantasy webcomic, Galanthus, features a kind and idealistic human girl in hijab hired as a tech assistant on a smuggling ship that she accidentally stowed away on. The webcomic updates on Wednesdays. The multispecies and multiracial cast of bright, lovely characters are sure to be a hit, if queer science fiction is your thing. If you are a fan of Becky Chambers’ Long Way to Small Angry Planet, this might be up your alley.
Their work has also been published in anthologies such as Dirty Diamonds #7 and Tabula Idem: A Queer Tarot Comic Anthology. They are repped by Susan Graham, an associate agent with Einstin Literary.
You can see more about their work on their website and get to know them better on Twitter at @ashantifortson.

Dax Murray
Dax Murray is a bisexual, nonbinary coder by day and an author by night who uses fey pronouns. Fey graduated from Allegheny College after studying political science, writing and music. Dax can often be found attempting to knit, a hobby that is often interrupted by feir cats, playing Final Fantasy XIV or lost in a very good book.
Feir first novel is a queer, polyamorous retelling of Swan Lake that explores themes of loyalty, trust, betrayal and family. One of feir greatest joys in writing is to center joy and happiness in worlds where being queer is absolutely normal.
Fey can be found on twitter at @DaxAeterna, but fey said “You’ll probably want to follow my cats at @DaxsCats!“
