Taylor Swift Sends Heartfelt Message to Diana Ross During American Music Awards
By Kara Johnson
“I don’t personally know anyone in music who hasn’t been inspired by you and influenced by you.”
Taylor Swift couldn’t attend the American Music Awards on Sunday night (November 19) but she still made an appearance during the show. It wasn’t to promote her brand new album reputation or to premiere a new music video. Instead, Swift put all that aside to honor this years Lifetime Achievement award winner Diana Ross.
Before the show went on a commercial break, a prerecorded video of Swift sporting her curly locks played on screen, honoring Ross on her great achievement. “I don’t personally know anyone in music who hasn’t been inspired by you and influenced by you,” she said in the video message. “You are elegant and fierce and strong and brave, and you have paved the way for everyone who does what we do now including me so thank you.”
Swift wasn’t up for any awards for this year’s show but a new era has just begun and we know there are many awards to be won for the songstress. In fact, her album has already broken records and has outsold her previous album 1989 with more than 1.29 million copies sold in the first week. Watch out award shows, Taylor Swift is coming back stronger than ever and by doing so, she’s honoring one of the worlds biggest icons Diana Ross in the process. She’s a genuine person, and it’s refreshing to see someone like her honor another legend.
