Frontier season 2 trailer: Some questions we have

Frontier will return to Netflix in just over a week, and if you thought the first season was bloody, the second season looks to improve (?) in that area.

Did you miss Frontier? For all its missteps — and there were missteps; I’d know, I recapped the show’s first season and definitely remember making fun of it as I did it — it was also weirdly compelling. So, when Entertainment Weekly posted the trailer for the second season, dropping Nov. 24, yours truly might have snickered a bit … then hunkered down to watch it.

Now here I am, about to break the trailer down for you, because somehow, this show is back for a second season with Jason Momoa as Declan Harp.

Why is Declan getting dragged somewhere? Isn’t this trailer showing that Benton, heretofore the baddest of baddies on a show that has baddies on both sides (even our protagonist is an antihero at best), is headed away from Canada?

Then again, Chesterfield appears to be entirely active. Will he step up to full-blown, solo villain status? And what of our other favorite characters? Although Clenna broke up with Michael, that doesn’t mean she’s necessarily out of Canada right away. She could come back to haunt him — and the rest of the group. Here’s hoping she is; the show did fairly well with different female characters like her, Sokanon and Grace last season.

Speaking of, both Sokanon and Grace are back in this trailer. While Grace doesn’t speak, Sokanon does. Her and Declan’s relationship may play a bigger role this season, and would contrast nicely to the more romantic tension that Grace and Declan have.

Will that relationship go further? Well, that all depends on Declan, methinks. He’s likely still working through grief, and now he has different things on his plate. EW points out the “dead-or-alive bounty” that he’ll have to contend with.
