3. Christmas Around The World and Holidays of Light

There’s no place like home for the holidays, but at Christmastime it’s hard not to imagine adventuring to a new place. But, between shopping for gifts and taking care of the electric bill from all the lights, money is a bit tight and traveling can be difficult. Luckily, in Chicago, the Museum of Science and Industry brings the world to you.

Chicago museums have some of the best exhibits all year round. During the holidays, MSI brings back Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light, and it’s a Christmas lover’s dream. Now, the official city tree is in Millennium Park, but the world’s trees are in the museum.

The exhibit is centered around a four-story, floor-to-ceiling tree, with a virtual forest around it. There are more than 50 trees and displays, all decorated by volunteers to spotlight the holiday traditions from other cultures. It’s a perfect follow-up to Christkindlmarket on the Chicago Day agenda.

With the variety of trees, it makes for a perfect Christmas card shot, and a great learning experience for the kids. The exhibit will be open this year from Nov. 16, 2017 through Jan. 7, 2018.
