Poldark season 3: What we’d like to see in the season finale

When Poldark wraps its third season up this Sunday, here are some things that we’d really like to see happen before the off-season.

It seems like almost yesterday that Poldark returned to our screens, and after an episode that we weren’t necessarily super pleased with, we’re finally here at the end of the season. The show has a lot of threads, narratively speaking.

It’s hard to say that all of them will be tied up, but we’re going to put together our wishlist for the season 3 finale.

As a reminder, here’s our preview of the episode:

Masterpiece has also put out a teaser scene, which clarifies the George Warleggan-Francis Bassett exchange:

So, what would we like from the Poldark season finale?

Some sort of comeuppance for Rev. Whitworth

This already started to happen in last week’s episode, where it seemed like both Dwight and Elizabeth came close to flat-out insulting Whitworth in conversation. However, with the preview having Morwenna also attempting to or maybe even being able to defy him, it looks like he might finally face consequences for his general awfulness.

A resolution for Hugh, Demelza and Ross

This one seems like a slam dunk in terms of likelihood. Hugh’s infatuation has become a sticking point between Ross and Demelza already, as we discussed, and it seems as though she’s still torn between what Hugh’s offering and how it would impact her marriage with Ross even further than it already has. Is Hugh going to go away permanently after season 3? Well, that’s a different question entirely, but regardless, it seems safe to suspect that something will happen.

George and Ross having to work together

Now that Masterpiece has put it in our heads with its preview image for the episode teaser, we can’t help but suspect that Bassett might very well send George out there to either prove some sort of loyalty, keep an eye on Ross or frankly just get him and his concerns about Ross away from him while he clearly has some important Sir Francis Bassett things to do. These two men are enemies, and it might very well be that forcing them to work together might make things worse … which means more drama, which we have trouble resisting.
