Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 3 episode 4 review: I Never Want to See Josh Again

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend held nothing back this week and it maybe was uncomfortable? But that was the point, it just might not have been the best one to make.

Rebecca Bunch is having a time on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Last week, we saw her breakdown while she was in West Covina, haunting Josh to the point where she decided to go home to her mother. This week? Well, it was a bit weird.

First of all, she’s back in New York and she thinks that her mother is trying to help her cope with everything that happened. It’s only because she didn’t have anywhere to go and ruined her relationships in California.

But it seems as if her and her mother are finally getting along. Obviously we learn it is because her mother was giving her anxiety medication to help her since Rebecca was looking up how she could kill herself.

So in true Rebecca fashion, she dramatically leaves New York to head back to California only to realize she burned her bridges before she left. So what does she do? She tries to kill herself on the plane by taking all her anxiety medication.

Honestly, it was uncomfortable. Not because the scene was necessarily different, but rather because it didn’t seem to fit with Rebecca. Yes, she’s struggled with her mental health but this is a character who has continually risen above. But then again, she did try to kill herself before and it was went sent her into the hospital the first time.

I guess it’s just that the Rebecca we know and love isn’t who we are seeing on screen. And maybe that’s why it was so uncomfortable to watch this wonderful woman fall so far.

Other than that, the episode featured everyone realizing just how much they missed her in West Covina. Nathaniel was crying, Maya needed a new mentor, Darryl needed a friend and Paula was lost without her Cookie.

Now that Rebecca asked the flight attendant for help, what will happen? Will she go back to New York with her mother or will she end up in West Covina with her friends once more? We’re going to have to wait until next week but I hope she gets the help she clearly needs.
