Troll: The start of the friendship of the Golden Trio

Halloween and Harry Potter can really be boiled down to the troll in the dungeon. But what’s more important from that scene?

While it is the anniversary of the dawning of a friendship that would change a generation, it is also the anniversary of “TROLL! THERE’S A TROLL IN THE DUNGEON, THOUGHT YOU’D LIKE TO KNOW”. Harry Potter and Halloween can truly be defined by that scene.

Quirrell runs into the Great Hall, he screams about the troll in the dungeon and then faints. We learn later on why this all happened but what ends up happening that night puts the wheels into motion for Harry, Ron and Hermione to become the Golden Trio.

The two end up helping Hermione when she’s trapped in the girl’s bathroom with the troll and, in the end, it results in a friendship that I think, arguably, changed the way we all view our own friends.

So should we celebrate the troll or what came to be? I say let’s remember what happened when, despite the two making fun of her beforehand, Harry and Ron put their differences aside to help Hermione and it, in the end, resulted in her becoming part of their little group.

Is that why we think the holiday is so important to the series? Because, without it, we wouldn’t have had the Golden Trio? That would explain why we all flock to the streets in our robs on Halloween night (or it’s just easy since we all own Harry Potter costumes anyway).

No matter what we think of the holiday, we can all be happy that it is the reason we have this friendship. The troll in the dungeon brought Harry, Ron, and Hermione together as one and because of it, we love the three of them more than any other group of friends.
