Lucius Malfoy: Is he a redeemable character in any way?

We know that Lucius Malfory is not really that great of a guy but is he redeemable? Or is he just evil? We’re looking at Draco’s father.

Lucius Malfoy is often seen as a villain. And for good reason. He was the abusive father of Draco Malfoy and someone who believed in Voldemort. So why would we think he was a hero in anyway shape or form?

But it is interesting that people don’t see him as such. They think he has redeemable qualities, probably because he ended up switching sides (but only when it applied to him). For me personally, I think that he’s definitely a villain and someone who doesn’t really have any qualities we, as people, would want.

I say this because yes, as an actor, Jason Isaacs probably had to justify his character and the choices he made. But as viewers, do we see anything in Lucius that we’d want to have around us? I mean, I don’t. The last thing I want is to be associated with anyone who has any of his qualities.

Basically, Lucius tormented his son for years because he, himself, was being manipulated by Lord Voldemort. And we’re supposed to feel badly that Lucius Malfoy was in that situation? No. He chose to follow Voldemort and he’s the one who has to suffer. Instead, he inflicted pain onto his son and family to make up for it.

So personally, I hate him. I don’t think he’s redeemable and I think that there are many characters in the series that deserve our redemption. Lucius is not one of them.
