Jim Hopper in Stranger Things 2: David Harbour gets it

We all love Jim Hopper but this season has changed our feelings about him. So we’re looking into why, exactly, and how David Harbour gets it.

Jim Hopper is the sheriff of Hawkins, Indiana in Stranger Things. In the first season, he was the only man we saw shirtless and honestly, that was fine by us. We love Jim, and whether the fandom as a whole wants him to marry us or be our friend is still up in the air.

But Stranger Things 2 has brought a whole new level to our favorite cop. If you haven’t watch the new season yet, you might want to stop reading because there will be spoilers ahead.

So basically in the first episode of the new season, there is a storyline where Jim Hopper is the father to Eleven. He rescued her after the events in the finale and she lives with him in the cabin in the woods. And seeing Jim as a father in full force (and not just in flashbacks) has made the Internet pretty excited.

David Harbour isn’t exactly helping the situation, either. In a now deleted tweet, he posted a poll asking if Hopper was a ‘dad’ or a ‘daddy’ and can you guess what most the internet voted for? The answer is “Daddy”. Now the definition of what a “daddy” is gets really convoluted and we’re not going to get into it.

Harbour eventually replaced the poll tweet with something else:

But I will say this, this season gave us a whole new view to Hopper that we really love. And Stranger Things has become a vehicle for David Harbour in a way that has boys and girls of every age questioning everything. Basically, we just all love David Harbour.

If you haven’t finished Stranger Things 2, you definitely should. It’s amazing and when you do, you’ll finally understand the confusing nature of Jim Hopper and how we feel about him.
