Uh, honey, something’s wrong with William
First of all, Noah Schnapp was very underutilized in season 1. Like, if y’all thought Millie Bobby Brown knocked it out of the park, just wait until Will starts crying about his trauma and tries to explain what’s happening to him.
Unfortunately, it’s a difficult thing to explain without the visuals. But once the “shadow monster” officially makes him a host, Will develops an unnatural connection to the Upside Down. It’s kind of like how Harry Potter and Voldemort were always connected and could see into each other’s minds. Will, too, shares this capability with the Upside Down, to the extent where he can map out its entire hive beneath Hawkins, find people within it and feels an excruciating amount of pain when said hive is attacked.
Of course, his mother tries to support him as much as possible. But as always, it’s difficult for non-Force users to understand the special types of people who can use the Force.
(Yes, I’ve made references to two other big pop culture things on purpose here, because Stranger Things is more derivative this season. Good, but derivative.)
Even “Just Bob” does his best to analyze what’s happening to Will, as does his best buddy Mike. Although, I’m not sure Will knows exactly what’s happening either. If he does, then he’s responsible for the deaths of multiple agents, but what annoys me most is that the person who can probably help him best … is doing something completely different.
Obviously, I’m talking about Eleven. Where is Eleven? Well…
