11. Devon Sawa — Casper (1995)

Okay, so Casper isn’t really scary. But it is a classic Halloween movie.

Of course, Casper McFadden is pretty young for crushes. After all, he’s the ghost of a 12-year-old boy, freezing him in age for all eternity. But no tweenage girl in 1995 could forget the mysterious boy with golden hair at the end of the film. That was Devon Sawa, playing the human form of Casper.

Surprisingly, Sawa was actually just shy of his 17th birthday when Casper came out. While there’s no clear timeline of the movie’s filming, he was likely no younger than 15 years old when shooting his scene. So, let’s acknowledge that he’s cute.

Though Sawa only appears for about five minutes at the end of the film, it was a swoon-worthy five minutes for all those ’90s girls. After getting to go to Kat’s party in human form, as “kind of a Cinderella deal,” Casper makes quite the entrance.

Not only does he get Kat to dance, but he levitates them so they’re literally dancing on air. (Worth noting: Casper actually marked the second time Devon Sawa played a love interest to Christina Ricci. The first was in Now and Then, released later in 1995.)

As the cherry on top, Casper clues Kat in by repeating their inside connection: “Can I keep you?”

For fans hoping for more of the story between Kat and Casper, Sawa ignited a spark of hope earlier this year.

But that hope was stifled just six minutes later.

Still, if Casper 2 ever does come through, we’ll be ready.
