Halloween and Harry Potter: Does anything good ever happen?
If you don’t recall, Halloween brought the troll to the dungeon but it brings up a good point: Do good things happen on holidays in Harry Potter?
Holidays and the Harry Potter universe don’t really get on that well. For instance, Halloween. The first halloween we know Harry and his friends, a troll gets into the dungeon thanks to Professor Quirrell and it almost results in the death of Hermione Granger.
Luckily the Golden Trio finally worked together and ended up saving each other as well as defeated the troll. So while that holiday wasn’t the best for them, it does bring into focus how every holiday pretty much works for Harry and his friends.
Even when he goes to celebrate Christmas at Grimauld Place with Sirius and the Weasley’s, it isn’t under the best circumstances. For Harry Potter, maybe holidays just aren’t the best? Now we know, for a fact, that they weren’t great for him as a kid. With people like the Dursleys, he didn’t get much love and attention during them.
But as an adult, they don’t fair much better. He’s constantly either fighting people or just trying to get through them to go back to his friends. It isn’t really fair to Harry, Ron, or Hermione. So now with the new additions and series, I hope that Rowling makes a change to the idea of the holidays and Harry James Potter.

Who knows, maybe Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will feature a nice little Christmas scene or just something to help these characters cope with the holidays. I just think that there can be a happy moment rather than just everyone being upset during them. Or maybe that’s just Harry. Either way, I want a happy, smiley Christmas.
