Tickets for Star Wars: The Last Jedi are already available for purchase (and they’re not supposed to be)

The rollout for Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s big day today has just gotten that much worse thanks to tickets becoming buyable for a certain group of fans.

Somehow, we get the feeling that Lucasfilm and Disney are not going to be happy, thanks to The Verge. Oct. 9 was supposed to be simple, right? As The Verge reminds us, the plan was as follows for Lucasfilm: prepare to crow as fans shell out lots of money to buy as many opportunities to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi as they can, and with a plethora of options to boot … there are probably going to be repeat customers, especially pushed by the existence of the next teaser.

But see, this sort of thing only works when everybody works together and does things the same way, making it all as smooth and even as possible.

And unfortunately, that’s just not happening today. First it’s Fandango throwing up early warning signs. This, though, might be worse.

Here’s where The Verge comes in. It looks like if you’re lucky enough to live in Massachusetts or Rhode Island, you can already buy tickets from Showcase Cinemas. We here at Culturess were still able to pick tickets for a huge number of listings via Android as of about 3:30 p.m. ET.

Here’s just one example for a 3D version of the film (note the higher prices):

Notably, The Last Jedi‘s options aren’t the only ones to have the little purple placeholder image. So do the options for Thor: Ragnarok — suggesting this might not just be a glitch so much as an actual human error.

We were able to get all the way to a checkout screen asking for credit information in the app, after picking some seats for a certain showing.

Next: Has The Last Jedi crashed Fandango?

The Verge merely said “Whoops.” We’re more of the line of thinking that honestly, this has to be a little embarrassing.
