Taylor Swift made waves with her new single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” and with the second track off her new album, “Ready For It,” but according to a new report, her singles haven’t soared.

On October 9, USA Today shared a report with readers in which they suggested that Swift’s new tracks from her upcoming album, Reputation, which is due to hit stores on November 10, were “failing.”

According to the report, Swift is headed for a big month next month but this month, “Look What You Made Me Do” is currently at No. 5 on the Hot 100 chart and her second track, “Ready For It” is way down at No. 39. This, USA Today continued, means that the new songs are falling short of the chart success Swift saw in 2014 with 1989.

How well did Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ do on the charts?

As the outlet explained, the debut single from 1989, “Shake It Off,” debuted at No. 1 and remained at the top of the chart, either in the No. 1 or No. 2 spot, for 12 weeks before it was ultimately dethroned by Swift’s second single from 1989, “Blank Space.”

According to David Bakula, Nielsen Entertainment’s senior vice president of analytics, the debut of the first two singles from 1989 marked a “peak moment” in Swift’s career. Bakula also said that “Look What You Made Me Do” simply isn’t getting the massive reactions that “Shake it Off” did years ago.

‘Look What You Made Me Do’ hasn’t done to shabby

While the USA Today report may be making it seem as if “Look What You Made Me Do” is less than stellar, that is far from the case. In fact, the song recently spent three weeks at No. 1 before falling it’s fall to No. 5 this past week.

As fans will recall, Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” and Post Malone’s “Rockstar” recently knocked the song out of the top three spots and a short time later, J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente” and Logic’s “1-800-273-8255” landed at the Nos. 3 and 4 positions.
