If you thought Taylor Swift’s 1989 was done with its success, you are sadly mistaken. Her lead single from the album just hit two major milestones this week and we’re not surprised.
While we may be in a new Swit era, it doesn’t mean that her previous albums or singles will ever stop being successful. In fact, the lead single “Shake It Off” from 1989 has garnered more success. As of today, October 6, the music video has hit 2.4 billion views on Vevo. This makes it the most viewed female music video of all time. If that’s not a huge success, we don’t know what is.
Not to mention, in the same week, “Shake It Off” has now been certified 2x platinum in the U.K, selling over 1.2 million copies. This is Swift’s first multi-platinum U.K. award. Can you imagine just how successful the song will be in a couple months from now or even a year from now?
The song has been proven to be one of the songstress’ most successful songs by becoming Swift’s second No.1 single in the United States and the 22nd to debut at No.1 in chart history. It produced first-week digital sales of 544,000 units and performed as one of the largest debuts for a single in 2014 falling behind Flo-Rida’s “Right Round”. Needless to say, the song has been successful and its success, we are positive will continue.
