Michael Burnham, Cadet Tilly and friendship on Star Trek: Discovery

Star Trek: Discovery is taking over as one of our favorite shows. But sometimes the characters are a bit questionable, especially with friendship.

When it comes to Star Trek: Discovery, there are many theories already circulating out on the Internet. But for me, I truly want to see more about the relationship between Michael and her roommate Tilly.

Honestly, I hated their initial interaction. Not because either character are not great. In fact, I love them both. But the way they were introduced to each other almost made me hate Michael. When Michael goes into her room, she doesn’t want to deal with anyone.

That’s fine, but it is the way she treats Tilly that rubs me the wrong way. All Tilly does is try to be nice to her new roommate and Michael isn’t having it. Hopefully it was just for the first episode and because Michael was upset about Philippa.

If it is a regular occurrence, I don’t necessarily think that I’ll like it. Basically, Cadet Tilly is this bubbly girl who couldn’t have a roommate before Michael. Tilly is just so excited to have someone, but Michael sees it differently.

So at first, it is a very awkward situation. That’s fine, but I just don’t want their relationship to be a weird tension thing. I thoroughly enjoy Cadet Tilly and the two of them together as friends would really make this series special to me.

Will they be the Spock and Kirk my heart desires while watching this show? Maybe. But who knows. We’ll have to see where they end up taking their characters. But I do hope that they do not ruin Tilly or Michael because of it.
