How to Get Away with Murder season 4: 3 key takeaways from episode 2
How to Get Away with Murder stayed a little subtle last night, but there are still major conclusions to be drawn. Let’s break down “I’m Not Her.”

How to Get Away with Murder‘s second episode in season 4 picked up some of the ideas of the first episode — moving on — and tried to move its characters forward. Whether or not they were successful is up to interpretation, and we’re about to interpret it. Here’s what you should keep in mind going forward with How to Get Away with Murder.
No one’s free of Annalise just yet
Even Annalise’s cutting ties with practically the entire cast didn’t stop all of them from still having to deal with her in some way, shape, or form. Notably, most of it was not by choice. Connor, Laurel, Asher and Michaela all answer questions about her at their law fair interviews. Bonnie runs into her and then has her arrive at the D.A.’s office. Nate does the same, but at least helped Annalise out.
The only people who are willingly dealing with Annalise are Frank (who’s also studying for his LSATs) and Isaac, her therapist, although Isaac is also technically expected to deal with Annalise thanks to her being mandated to go to therapy. Even Annalise isn’t completely free of Annalise. Her therapy session in this week’s episode makes it abundantly clear that she hasn’t really moved on from everything that’s happened — and Isaac isn’t going to let her get away with it, pun intended.
The ladies of the Keating 4 are not to be trifled with
For an episode titled “I’m Not Her,” Laurel and Michaela both displayed some Annalise-like traits. Whether it was threatening Simon Drake with a smile on her face (which is chilling, let’s be honest) or securing multiple second-round interviews, the show has established that Michaela’s up to pretty much any task the world decides to throw at her.
Meanwhile, Laurel has both recruited Michaela into a secret mission to take down her father and maybe-sort-of has done the same with a teary Connor. Meanwhile, the gentlemen are teary or, in Asher’s case, angry, and both require a woman to talk to them and snap them out of it.
This isn’t to say that either Michaela or Laurel are absolutely emotionless, though. They just channel those emotions into productivity in the form of threats or action.
Isaac and Annalise are going somewhere
Is Annalise talking about how her last therapist became her husband an attempt by How to Get Away with Murder foreshadowing, or is it an attempt to throw us all off the scent? Isaac’s phone call in the flash-forward certainly seems to suggest that it’s closer to the former than the latter.
That’s not the kind of message you leave for someone who’s only your patient because she has to be. That’s the kind of message you leave when you are involved very deeply.

Funniest line of the night
Look, Connor and Oliver’s exchange about the purple work polo and Oliver’s subsequent resemblance to the eggplant emoji is amazing. So is “Control Oli Delete,” the name of Oliver’s company. It’s probably not a good name, but it’s funny.
Most dramatic line of the night
Annalise has now had two weeks in a row where she gets to be in a courtroom and makes a speech that gets her what she wants. Even so, there’s something different about this one as opposed to last week’s. Maybe it’s just because it’s for someone else instead of her.
