Aw, sick! Bob’s Burgers is cooking up a big screen movie

Today, Fox announced that television’s most awkward and perfectly lovable Belcher family will be headed to the big-screen for a Bob’s Burgers movie.

Though 2020 is still very far away and filled with release dates for many highly-anticipated films, there’s one summer movie that already has this guaranteed ticket-buyer jumping out of her seat: Bob’s Burgers.

Yeah, that’s right. After just premiering their season 8 opener last Sunday night, Fox announced that Bob and his family will head to the big-screen. And as Bob would say, “I guess this could be a good thing. It would definitely bring more attention to the restaurant.” Literally, that’s exactly what he would say as Gene started working on the soundtrack and Linda prepped for her starring role. Meanwhile, Louise would start selling merch so she could make a lot of money and Tina would quietly ask, “Will there be butts?”

Hopefully, Fox’s answer is yes.

So far, creator Loren Bouchard shared with The Hollywood Reporter:

"We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show. We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever-so-slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s — but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!"

As you can see, there are at least three but’s.

(C’mon, that was an amazing joke.)

I know there are plenty of shows to choose from when it comes to adult-oriented animation. But Bob’s Burgers holds a special place in my heart, and if The Simpsons can get two movies, I don’t see why something as genuinely funny and heartwarming can’t either.

Bob’s Burgers hits theaters on July 17, 2020.
