Rey does more than bypass the compressor in new Star Wars: Forces of Destiny short
By Buckie Wells
In the newest short from Star Wars: Forces of Destiny wave 2, Rey and Han Solo try to pilot the Millennium Falcon out of danger in the episode, “Tracker Trouble.”
While only a couple minutes long, Star Wars: Forces of Destiny episodes are exactly the type of pick-me-up one might need over a lunch break at work or in the break between classes. They’re short and sweet and feature the voice talents of a lot of familiar people we know and love. Although “Tracker Trouble” features a Han Solo voiced by someone who is decidedly not Harrison Ford, the episode still serves to flesh out more aspects of Rey’s life.
Obviously, we still only know her as a one-name scavenger from Jakku. But “Tracker Trouble” makes it seems like Rey had a better relationship with Unkar Platt than we first realized. And by “better,” I mean that he once hired her to help fix ships. Of course, this explains how she became a proficient pilot and mechanic, but doesn’t explain why she was suddenly forced to scavenge for parts in order to eat. Did Unkar fire her or something? Perhaps they fought over a moral dilemma.
Basically, this episode just expands on what happened on the flight between Jakku and Takodano. It now makes more sense as to why Han Solo felt compelled to ask Rey to join his team, too. Thanks to “Tracker Trouble,” it seems more likely that Han Solo simply wanted her for her innate mechanic skills and less because he may have recognized her. More importantly, it’s just another example of how Rey saved their lives and strengthened the relationship between herself and Chewbacca.

In terms of Finn’s inclusion, though he does nothing, I’m actually more excited to see his interactions with Rose Tico now. Rey used a lot of mechanical jargon in this short, so if Rose (who is another mechanic) says anything like that, I can’t wait to see him scratch his head in confusion. Once The Last Jedi hits theaters, I also hope to see Rey make some modifications to the Millennium Falcon. Anything that will make it more of her own instead of Han Solo’s ship.
