Wonder Woman 2 could see a comeback from an Amazon you know and love

How this could work, we don’t know, but Wonder Woman 2 should grab the opportunity to bring back Antiope if the schedule works out.

When an actress who’s had a career as long as Robin Wright enthusiastically expresses interest in coming back to your superhero movie sequel, we’re not saying that you should probably think about bringing Robin Wright back for your superhero movie sequel, but we’re definitely thinking it very loudly. CBR, citing an E! YouTube video, shows that yes, Wright wants to work on Wonder Woman 2.

The only question, which CBR points out as well, is … well … how? Antiope does die when Themyscira’s invaded by men searching for Steve Trevor.

CBR comes up with a few suggestions, namely whatever she’s doing in Justice League and flashbacks. However, there’s a third route that the site misses.

Since Wonder Woman came out, yours truly has been wrestling with the idea that Wonder Woman 2 might entail the underworld in some way, shape, or form. Granted, at the time it was in the context of Steve Trevor making a return, but who says Antiope can’t be there as well? With Wonder Woman 2 making it official with Patty Jenkins just a few weeks ago, and the plan not to release the film until 2019, it’s not like they couldn’t talk to Wright and engineer a cameo of some sorts.

Additionally, it’s clear that DC Entertainment is aware of Antiope’s popularity, which CBR also mentions. After all, the company presumably had to allow Funko to specifically create a Pop! figure of her.

Let’s summarize here: you have a willing actress, a popular character and means to justify an appearance. So long as it makes sense, why wouldn’t everyone coordinate to make this happen? If everyone can come to an agreement (which could be harder than it sounds), let’s bring back Antiope and have her, oh, we don’t know, scold Diana’s fighting form after years of watching from the afterlife.

A little comedy might not hurt.
