Grace Vanderwaal was deemed as “the next Taylor Swift” during her time on America’s Got Talent season 11 and throughout the season, she proved she was quite talented with her instrumental and songwriting skills.
She also requested that fans stop comparing her to the singer and allow her to establish her own identity in the world of music — but not because she wasn’t a fan of Swift. In fact, during a Twitter video shared at the end of last year, Vanderwaal was seen proving that she was a major fan of Swift after learning that Swift had sent her a large bouquet of flowers following her America’s Got Talent win.
“Taylor Swift sent me this!” Vanderwaal yelled in her Twitter post.

Around the same time, Vanderwaal took to Instagram where she shared and later deleted a post requesting that fans stop comparing her to Swift and Melanie Martinez. In the same video, Vanderwaal said that she took the comparisons as huge compliments but noted that she prefers to be herself.

As for what’s next for Vanderwaal, the America’s Got Talent singer recently released a few new songs, including “Moonlight”, “Sick of Being Told,” and “So Much More than This,” and will release her debut album, Just the Beginning, on November 3.
