Would Aaron Taylor Johnson really make a good James Potter?

Fans have cast Aaron Taylor Johnson as James Potter for quite some time now but is he really the best choice for the character?

Aaron Taylor Johnson has been fancast as James Potter for years. It is because he played John Lennon in a movie and really had the look down for the role. But is he really the best choice? Well, at this point, he might be a little too old if the role ever became available.

But more than that, I don’t necessarily think he’d be the best choice. Why the Harry Potter series worked was because we barely knew who the cast was. Every kid we fell in love with was an unknown to us all.

So why shouldn’t it be that way with the Marauders? Especially if we are watching something that is long before we meet some of them in the Harry Potter series? I mean, sure, Johnson looks the part.

He had the round glasses, floppy hair and everything. But I just don’t think that warrants putting all our money, as fans, behind him. It’s not that I think he’s a bad actor (on the contrary, he’s quite great), but I just don’t necessarily think he’s that great of a fit.

We’re all so in love with the idea of Aaron as James that we never stopped to think about whether or not he’s really that good of a choice. We just want him to look like Harry but sometimes that’s not really enough.
