Quentin Tarantino wants to direct a Star Trek movie, and why?
When it comes to Star Trek directors, we’ve had a lot through the years but now Quentin Tarantino wants to direct one. And maybe not?
Quentin Tarantino wants a hand in directing a Star Trek movie. And you know what I say to that? No, we’re good. It’s not that Tarantino is a bad director. Actually, he’s one of the great ones. But it is just that his style of directing is not something I want to see in my Trek movies.
We’ve had a wide array of directors when it has come to the Star Trek franchise. From all the different versions of the television series to the original movies and now the reboots, we have so many to pick from! You know what they all have in common though? They’re all very inherently Trek.
While JJ Abrams’s Star Trek was different, it was still very much the series we know and love. Justin Lin made an incredible movie with Beyond and while there were some touches of Lin’s work in there, it was still a Star Trek movie through and through.
Now call me a stickler for not liking change, but I just don’t feel like Tarantino could direct one of these movies without making so outrageous and in his own style. He’s so specific with his directing style, and that would not work with a Star Trek movie.
Who knows though, maybe he’d surprise us. Maybe there’s something in Quentin Tarantino’s directing makeup that can pull out an incredible movie and leave us all waiting and excited for what is to come with this series.

But more likely than not, it’d be a bloody mess and nothing like the series we know and love. So my personal opinion? Let’s not have Tarantino directing a Star Trek movie. I’d rather not have the red shirts’ blood all over Kirk’s face.
