Will Marvel ever give us the premiere date for the Punisher series?

Marvel and Netflix dropped the first full trailer for the Punisher series, coming this fall. But we still don’t have a premiere date!

Marvel’s The Punisher is next up for the MCU’s Netflix series.

And much like I said last week, no one knows when it will show up.

Take the new trailer, for example. It’s our first actual trailer for the new show. Before this, all we had was the snapshot at the end of The Defenders and a handful of internet promos that don’t show much of anything.

Here’s the trailer, in case you haven’t seen it yet:

It gives us some grizzly details. And a heck of a lot of gore. If you’re familiar with Punisher in the comics at all, you’re already expecting this to be Marvel’s bloodiest and most-violent outing. That… might not be everyone’s cup of tea (case in point: my sister-in-law stopped watching Daredevil in season one after that horrifying decapitation-by-car-door by Kingpin).

And this shows a heck of a lot of gore, but mostly in the form of guns and after-the-fact blood than blow-by-blow action. Fans are already a little cagey around it, especially with the state of society at the moment and the resulting gun control issues.

But at the end of the trailer, the premiere date still finds itself blurred out, like someone doesn’t want us to see it. Someone strange and mysterious and operating in the shadows. Some organization or person that may be involved in the murder of Frank Castle’s family, perhaps?

So is Marvel trying to pull a Beyoncé and just drop Punisher into our laps some Friday in November? Don’t get me wrong, I would love it (as long as it’s closer to Thanksgiving than the start of the month) if I just turned on Netflix and Punisher showed up under the new releases.

Some warning would be nice, too.
