What if it was Hermione Granger and the Sorcerer’s Stone?

While we love Harry Potter, what if Hermione Granger was the one who was almost killed by Lord Voldemort as a baby? It’d certainly be interesting!

Now we have a lot of ‘what if this happened to Neville instead’ theories but what if it happened to Hermione instead? A muggle-born girl who had no connection to the magic world suddenly thrust into this world and finding out the reason her parents are dead?

I don’t know, I just think it would be more interesting than a little Harry finding out his connection to everything. And maybe that’s because I’ve lived with this story for so long. We grew up with Harry discovering his connection to the wizarding world, it’d just seem more interesting if it was Hermione who had to sort through all this information.

Hermione could figure it out on her own

Harry has a connection at every turn. Someone always knew his parents or knew something about why he was almost killed as a baby. But Hermione, it’d be a shot in the dark and she’d have to figure it all out. And she could! She’s so smart, it’d be so interesting to watch her sort through the information to figure out why she was chosen by Voldemort.

Again, maybe it’s just because we’ve lived with Harry Potter being the boy who lived for most our reading lives that we all long to see some other variation of the story. I still love Harry and his dramatic self but to think about Hermione Granger having to go through everything alone and sort through it all? It just seems incredibly interesting to me.

And maybe that’s because Hermione is basically the one who figured everything out anyway but still. I’d take a whole book series about Hermione Granger as an adult just yelling at Harry all the time too. Maybe I just want these character back in my life but either way, it’d be an interesting story to see.
