Ever see something so ironic that you just can’t? Well Shailene Woodley bashed watching television on the red carpet literally at the television awards.
On the red carpet, Shailene Woodley talked about how she doesn’t watch television because she doesn’t have time. Honestly, it was the biggest eyeroll moment of the red carpet. Why? Well, first of all, she is at the Emmys.
You know, the wonderful night where we celebrate television? That night? And she is nominated for a TV show she did. But she’s too busy for TV. You know what she does instead? She reads. Like no one else does that.
It’s just a frustrating thing. Because acting ‘above’ something that you’re nominated for is the epitome of ironic.
Listen, I get it. When you’re busy, you have to pick what you want to do. Whether it is read or watch a show or a movie or whatever, you have to pick your battles. But maybe don’t act like watching TV instead of reading is a bad thing? Especially when you’re at the Emmy awards?
According to the actress, she hasn’t had a TV since leaving her parents house at the age of 18. And look, that’s absolutely fine. She doesn’t have to like watching it. But the way she talked about it rubbed me (and a lot of Twitter) the wrong way.
All of us watching the Emmys like television. That’s why we’re watching the Emmys. So for her to act like we should be reading or whatever it is she was insinuating? Not really great. Shailene is doing great political work and she’s an incredible actress.

But maybe don’t shame those who are watching your programs at an event made for television? Again, Shailene Woodley is an incredible actress. And I guess an avid reader who has never seen an episode of Big Little Lies in her life.
