Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.
God bless Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin and God bless the 69th Emmy Awards for choosing to recognize the stone-cold classic in which the trio starred together: 9 to 5. Especially because it inspired this killer one-two presidential punch.
"Fonda: Back in 1980, in that movie, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.Tomlin: And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot"
They still got it. Enjoy.
Their entire time on stage was a delight, also because it ended with Dolly Parton asking if she can get a Grace and Frankie vibrator in her goodie bag. Someone must be able to hook a 9-5 working girl up, right?
Parton, for her part, did not participate in the Trump-insinuating barbs and just kind of smiled. (Country fans and business, I guess.)
Oh, and then Alexander Skarsgard won the award — Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series — because apparently, they were on stage for other reasons besides skewering the current president with burns to throwback cartoon villains played by beloved character actor Dabney Coleman.
Tomlin and Fonda are, of course, nominated for their work on the aforementioned Netflix show Grace and Frankie, while Parton appeared to just be along for the ride. (A good rule of thumb: Always invite Dolly. She’s always going to be fun.)

P.S. If you haven’t seen 9 to 5, or you haven’t watched it in, like, a week, treat yourself. It’s a delightful romp with three comedic actresses at the top of their game. And it’s just super fun.
