In a recent article, I wrote about how Game of Thrones could, sort of, be the ancient history of Harry Potter. While any crossover can seem far-fetched, it seemed like the best follow up article would be to sort our favorite characters into Hogwarts houses.
We’re going to be doing all of the main characters of Game of Thrones, from all of the major houses over the seven seasons. There will be spoilers! If you haven’t watched season seven, don’t read!
Tyrion Lannister: Ravenclaw
This one isn’t difficult, and at the most, I would say it could be argued that he’s a Gryffindor. But to be honest, Tyrion Lannister is a textbook Ravenclaw. He’s one of the most textbook clever characters of the series and has admitted that he has to use that to distract from his appearance.
After all, how can a Ravenclaw argue with this quote: “A mind needs books like a sword needs a whetstone?”
Jamie Lannister: Gryffindor
The siblings in the Lannister family are definitely not all going to be in the same house. Jamie is a difficult one to place, but with his character development across the seasons, I would place him as Gryffindor. I know he’s done some unforgivable things, but I truly believe that under all of it, he just wants to be a brave knight.
Cersei Lannister: Slytherin
This one might seem a bit too obvious, but I’m gonna go with the obvious and put Cersei in Slytherin. Not for any reason of being evil, however. She’s cunning and able to get what she wants, no matter who or what stands in her way.
Daenerys Targaryen: Slytherin
Daenerys Targaryen is one of my favorite characters, and I think it’s only fitting she’s put in Slytherin. Even though she’s against Cersei in the fight for the Iron Throne, I think these two ladies are more alike than they seem. After all, what’s more Slytherin than using your dragon in an epic battle!?
(Also arguably: Gryffindor)
Jon Snow: HUFFLEPUFF!
I truly think that Jon Snow is probably the best version of a Hufflepuff you’ll ever see. While we, Hufflepuffs, are often mocked, Jon Snow just wants to rule the North and make it as safe for everyone as possible. He even bent the knee to Daenerys so that he could keep the wildlings and North of the Wall safe.
(Also arguably: Gryffindor)
Arya Stark: Better be…Gryffindor!
I use this iconic line because I feel like the sorting hat may have some trouble figuring out where to put Arya. She would excel in Slytherin, I truly believe that. With her list of people to kill, cunning skills and bravery, she would fit in nicely. However, with her lineage, and with everything she knows from how she was raised, I think it would eventually put her in Gryffindor.
Sansa Stark: Ravenclaw
Sansa goes to Ravenclaw because, with everything she’s gone through throughout the many seasons, it’s made her smart. She’s clever, and she knows how to get what she wants. I think she always has. In Season Seven we saw her running Winterfell while Jon went to Dragonstone
Brienne of Tarth: Hufflepuff
Loyalty. There’s no one more loyal than Brienne.
