George Lucas
The entire Star Wars universe came from the mind of one man: George Lucas. Granted, he only directed one film out of the original trilogy, and the later prequels have…mixed reactions. But the vision is his, and who could know the story better?
Gungans aside, most of George Lucas’s choices for his franchise have been brilliant. Conveniently enough, he was planning on returning to the franchise with Episode VII. But then he sold the company to Disney.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Colin Trevorrow made several passes at drafting a script, facing similar obstacles as the upcoming Han Solo standalone. George Lucas himself has addressed Disney’s control issues over the story, citing it as a major reason he wouldn’t return.
Still, if The Lion King taught us anything, it’s that Disney believes in restoring a true king.
