Star Wars: The Last Jedi will give Poe’s famous X-Wing some serious upgrades
By Buckie Wells
When Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters this December, Poe Dameron will be leading the Resistance with an X-Wing sporting new upgrades and ready to fly.
Lately, there’s been a lot of emphasis on the ships we will see in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. From Kylo Ren’s new fang machine to the First Order’s simian all-terrain walker, we know that even Supreme Leader Snoke will be terrifying the galaxy in style.
Likewise, the Resistance plans to bring in some upgrades of its own. Of course, some previous hints from Entertainment Weekly left us speculating that Poe Dameron may succeed General Leia as the leader of the Resistance once The Last Jedi ends. But before he gets there, he’ll be flying around the galaxy in a new suped-up version of his now-famous orange and black X-Wing.
Thanks to the Empire‘s coverage of The Last Jedi, we know what this ship will look like.
Check it out below:
Obviously, it makes sense that his ship will be getting this heavy-armor upgrade. If you’ll recall this moment from the trailer, it looks like his old one will get damaged in some capacity.

According to Empire, Resistance engineers (like Rose Tico?) will modify Poe’s Incom-FreiTek T-70 and make it faster and more secure. Director Rian Johnson also explained that “the pod, when primed, increases Dameron’s speed, allowing him to outrun First Order cannon emplacements. It’s just a temporary boost and will burn out quickly but it’s enough to get beyond the barrage of turbo laser fire from First Order Star Destroyers such as the one depicted in the image.”

You know what would be really fun to do next? Adding pink racing stripes to the Millennium Falcon or like blue and black Alcantara leather bucket seats to the cockpit.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on Dec. 15.
