15 of Kelly Clarkson’s American Idol looks, ranked by ’00s-ness

Certainly Kelly Clarkson never in her life imagined that she would be living in a moment like this. After it was announced that Kelly had won the first season of American Idol, she had to get up on stage and sing “A Moment Like This,” a song that would become her first hit.

Kelly could barely stay composed up on stage as she sang her winning song live in front of the huge audience. Despite the tears and a few hiccups, she managed to belt out a beautiful rendition of the song, complete with all the motion of a well-deserved winner.

Even though it was finale night, Kelly Clarkson came out looking very casual. She wore a burgundy velvet jacket that had contrasting stitching with a pair of faded black wide leg jeans that likely wore in earlier weeks of the competition. She wore black boots again but this time they had slender heels and pointy toes, which was a bit different from many of her other performances where she seemed to prefer a wider heel and a rounder toe.

Kelly’s hair was curled into a dramatic look with big brown and blond spirals framing her face. Her lips were glossy and her eyeshadow was smokey. It was a very dramatic hair and makeup job to balance the casualness of her outfit. She looked fabulous and very comfortable on stage.
