Keep in mind that Kelly Clarkson was only 20 years old when she competed in season 1 of American Idol. When she took the stage to sing “Think Twice,” it was the second time she took on a Celine Dion song during the competition. It was also the second time that she totally nailed it.

Remember, the night that Kelly sang this song, she was up against the two other strongest competitors to grace the season 1 AI stage. Kelly sang this song on the same night when Justin Guarini sang “Let’s Stay Together” and “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.” Nikki McKibben went home after singing her heart out with “Edge of Seventeen” and “Black Velvet.”

When it came to Kelly Clarkson ‘s look during this top three performance, she went all out. Clarkson ditched her typical boot cut jeans again in favor of a dress. This time around it was a form fitting brown number with neutral colored flowers that hit her mid-calf.

Kelly paired her feminine dress with a longer pendant necklace than normal, which complimented the plunging neckline of her dress. While the style of Kelly’s dress was definitely very popular at the time, she made the list this far down with “Think Twice” because of her makeup and hair.

Again Kelly wore her hair straight and parted down the middle. While that style wasn’t incredibly popular in 2002, it certainly did show off her perfectly highlighted chunky blonde streaks and the razor cut layers of her post-Rachel (from “Friends”) hairstyle. Her hair was perfectly balanced with dramatic makeup. It was Kelly’s glossy, dark-lined lips that gave away just how ’00s her look was during the Celine Dion song.
