Friends fans likely hold Monica and Chandler’s or Phoebe and Mike’s weddings in higher regard than Ross’ ill-fated union to Emily.

But when it comes down to which Friends wedding is the most memorable, there’s no question that Ross and Emily’s British nuptials, which occurs in the two-part season 4 finale “The One with Ross’ Wedding,” takes the (wedding) cake. And, unlike many other weddings on this list that were ultimately called off after an unplanned disruption, Ross and Emily really were married at the end of this one.

Even a guest of Emily’s unfamiliar with Ross and Rachel’s past would have been shocked to hear Ross utter another woman’s name during the ceremony, but, of course, for the thousands of viewers across the globe cringing as Ross set out to marry the wrong person, it was the essential, shriek-inducing moment that confirmed for all of us Ross and Rachel weren’t over.

However, those who watched this cursed ceremony (I mean, the venue was half-demolished!) in real time had to wait between seasons to find out if Ross and Emily actually said “I do” after Ross’ flub.

Let’s be clear, though; the best Friends couple is without a doubt Chandler and Monica. (Don’t @ me.) And while Ross and Emily’s marriage was the beginning of the end for the couple, at least their wedding brought Chandler and Monica together.
