Sue Ellen and Pinter’s Wedding, Seinfeld

You might be able to guess which other destination wedding attended by a group of New Yorkers to disastrous results appears in this list, but before we get there, we have to look back at the union of Sue Ellen Mischke and Pinter Ranawat, which happened in the Season 9 episode of Seinfeld titled “The Betrayal.”

Elaine receives an invitation to her nemesis, Sue Ellen’s, nuptials in India, and because it arrives so late, she assumes Sue Ellen (whom she calls “the bra-less wonder”) doesn’t really want her there—that it’s an “uninvitation.”

Offended, and in true Elaine fashion, she decides to bring the whole gang with, and only after arriving in India does she realize that she used to date the groom, Pinter (whom she knew as Peter).

George, who is dealing with his own frustrations after Jerry sleeps with the woman he’s pursuing, shares that tidbit about Elaine and Pinter with everyone during the wedding ceremony.  As a result, Sue Ellen calls off the wedding. Yikes.

Ironically, before George’s revelation at the wedding, Elaine and Sue Ellen had just begun to put aside their animosity and repair their relationship.

Bonus: if you had also been able to attend this wedding last-minute, you would have discovered, as Elaine did, that you and the Seinfeld gang were the only guests from the United States in attendance!
