Sean Parker and Alexandra Lenas’ LOTR-Inspired Wedding

This ceremony may be a real-life wedding, but it rivals many of the on-screen weddings on this list for its sheer opulence.

Internet investor Sean Parker and singer-songwriter Alexandra Lenas wed in 2013 in a lavish Big Sur ceremony modeled after Lord of the Rings meets Game of Thrones. The couple’s 364 guests had bespoke costumes made for them by Lord of the Rings costume designer Ngila Dickson and were able to interact with the 10 bunnies, five goats, and pony also in attendance.

Envision the scene: “Set designers had constructed faux bridges, a ruined stone castle, a 10-foot Celtic cross, and two broken Roman columns that straddled the altar, beneath the largest tree in the grove,”  per Vanity Fair‘s David Kirkpatrick. As a guest, you would have dined on salmon with beets, venison, and more, washing it all down with $500 bottles of Napa Valley wine.

According to Forbes, the wooded campsite alone cost $4.5 million, and that’s before the flowers, lighting, food, and drinks. Not to mention, Parker also had to pay a $1 million fee on behalf of the venue’s owner, Ventana Inn, when all was said and done for lacking proper permits, per Forbes. He also donated an additional $1.5 million to the California Coastal Commission, but fear not; no forests were harmed in the making of Parker’s wedding day.

The wedding, which produced unbelievable photos, was covered exclusively by Vanity Fair.
