Go behind the scenes of the Wonder Woman beach scene battle!
The Wonder Woman beach scene took our breath away and now you can go behind the scenes of the epic Amazonian battle on Themyscira!
Patty Jenkins recently released a clip talking about the Wonder Woman beach battle for the release of the movie on DVD. For those who haven’t seen the movie yet (what are you doing?) or are waiting to watch the extras for when they actually have the DVD, be prepared.
First off, the beach battle on Themyscira is epic. Not only because of how it was shot but because we got to see these amazing women taking on soldiers. The Amazons came ready to fight and we were left crying for joy in our seats.
From Antiope and her amazing “SHIELD” trick, to the flying Amazon in the beginning and to even some of the stuff Steve Trevor manages, we were enthralled. What’s interesting is how Patty sees the battle.
"The beach battle was defined by one thing, which is Diana’s point of view."
She later goes on to talk about how Diana has lived in this idyllic world. Mainly because while the Amazons continued to train, there was no fighting. But still, watching that battle, it never occurred to me that this was all her perspective.
Which is probably on me, but it is also because this is the definition of intense fight choreography. And on top of that, it was one of the first times I, personally, had seen anything like it on screen. Like most other women, I was overwhelmed at seeing so many powerful women kicking ass.
The brutality of men
Patty Jenkins also brings up the point that this is the first time that Diana sees the more dangerous side of the Amazons. And more so, she sees what man is capable of.
"And she sees the brutality of man."
