2. Jon and Daenerys will rule together
Look, I don’t want this to happen. I wrote a lot of words about why Jon and Sansa should be a thing in place of Jon and Daenerys. But now we’ve seen Kit Harington’s butt (again) and look, it’s not happening, and I’m still a little hurt over it.
Now, Bran emphatically said that Jon is “the heir to the Iron Throne,” which suggests that yes, Rhaegar’s line is prioritized over the Mad King’s other children, which would include Daenerys. Bran also told Sam that they need to inform Jon as soon as they see him. And since Jon doesn’t do so hot with keeping secrets, and since he’s already bent the knee … well, he’ll probably tell Daenerys.
Back when I wrote the Jon/Sansa piece, I pointed out that Daenerys and Jon would continue the Targaryen trait of keeping it all (and we do mean all) in the family. If that’s so, who’s to say Dany won’t make a new throne for her Jon to sit on, just as their ancestor Aegon forged the Iron Throne? They seem like actual partners. Besides, Jon is another Aegon. It’s practically fitting that he gets a throne of his own.
I predicted a year ago that Daenerys would sit the Iron Throne. Now that I’ve seen season 7, I’m hoping that they’re going to rule together.
