4. Theon’s attempt to rescue Yara will result in his death
After his big fight just to get some assistance in his ongoing quest to save his sister, Theon Greyjoy honestly has the look of a man who has nothing left to lose. Back when Euron first got his hands on Yara, I predicted that Theon would try and help her.
Once again, it seems I was a little early. Obviously, the big invasion of the undead is going to take up the bulk of season 8, because it is, in fact, characters trying to prevent the whole continent from being doomed. That’s kind of a big deal. However, that doesn’t mean there’s no room for other characters to get some screen time, and Theon’s mission seems like one of those things that will probably warrant a scene or two.
A noble sacrifice to protect another seems very Stark, and after that Jon and Theon conversation in the season 7 finale, it really seems like a fitting end. Theon has risked himself to protect a woman in his family before. Without him, Sansa wouldn’t have had the chance to escape Winterfell.
In a wider sense, Theon’s death is just going to be one of many in season 8. It’s going to be bloody. Start getting ready now.
