Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do Breaks Streaming Records

Taylor Swift released her new single “Look What You Made Me Do” on Thursday night, August 24 and its already broken streaming records on both YouTube and Spotify.

Along with the release of the single, Swift dropped the lyric video via YouTube, which was viewed more than 19 million times on its first day. This made it the most viewed lyric video on YouTube in a single day according to Variety. The title was previously held by Coldplay’s video for “Something Like This,” racking up 9 million views in a single day. “Look” now has over 36 million views.

Also, Swift broke streaming records via Spotify. Listeners streamed the track over 8 million times, which set a global record for the most streams in a single day for the platform.

On Friday, the song was downloaded more than 200,000 times, which takes the place of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You,” which took a week to get that many downloads. With that, several reports predict that the song will rack up more than half a million downloads in its first week out, making it the biggest single debut since Adele’s “Hello” in 2015.

“Look What You Made Me” is the lead single from Swift’s sixth studio album reputation, which will drop on November 10, 2017. The music video for the song will premiere within the first half hour of the VMA’s Sunday night, airing live from Los Angeles.
